Nationwide — At 80 years old, Beatrice Wilson of metro Atlanta is proving that it’s never too late to chase your dreams. On Wednesday, she opened her eighth business—a vibrant new nail salon called Bee Nails—on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, marking yet another milestone in her decades-long entrepreneurial journey.
According to 11 Alive, Wilson, who previously worked at local car dealerships, decided years ago to pivot and pursue something she truly loved. After completing nail school, she struggled to find anyone willing to hire her. Rather than give up, she boldly launched her first salon. Over the years, she built and successfully sold seven nail salons across metro Atlanta, officially retiring in 2021—until now.
“I feel you’re never too old, it’s never too late to follow what you love doing,” Wilson said. Her passion for nails and connecting with others kept calling her back. “I love being away from home and talking and interacting with people,” she added.
Bee Nails celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting attended by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and City Councilmember Andrea Boone. Wilson was deeply moved by the turnout and warm response from the community.
“It’s very heartwarming for me, and I’m getting a little bit teary. I’m getting so much support from my new customers coming in here. I’m just excited,” she said.
Her latest salon is the largest one she’s opened to date. Wilson designed Bee Nails with the Adamsville neighborhood in mind, using warm, welcoming colors to create a cozy and inviting space for clients to relax and feel at home.
